its not that theyre crappy...its just that since theyve been on the verge of bankruppcy for the past whatever years, they havnt had any money to fund research, therefore they havnt improved their cars in a long time. thats why you can easily get an older eclipse for under 5k off of ebay. because the value of mitsubishi keeps going down and down.

I love the motor in the eclipse but the car is just too heavy for my tastes.

I think i'd rather have the EVO.

ya know, everyone says that without taking into account the fact that an Evo, if driven the way its meant to be driven, is going to end up costing you a lot more than just the sticker price. Talk to LEVIII, I think he said he was on his third set of tires, and second set of brakes already, if I'm not mistaken. Don't get me wrong, m,y overall view of the eclipse was "meh, its pretty fun." In no way shape or form would I ever consider buying one.

As for Luke's questions. Pics are going to have to wait till Christmas time, because hes already gone back to New York. I would have brought my camera when I went for the drive if I'd known he had the car, but I didnt know until I actually got to the parking lot. He does plan on doing minor things. He's planning on lowering it, and probably just sticking to some bolt-ons here and there. Nothing major. If it were my car, I'd do everything I could to lighten the crap out of it, and pour all my money into the suspension, because its already got a decent amount of pull.

Mitsu engines are good to build for high boost and such. Out of the box the engines are not reliable. I said in the past that two of my friends had eclipses (one was a '96 talon, the other, a '97 RS). Both needed significant repairs by 120k miles - blown headgasket, crankwalk, fried ECU, various trany leaks, etc. I've been called ignorant for stating that

Meh, If I won one I would drive it around for a week and them sell the sob.

Then I would sell my civic (since it would be desireable now form the fixed dents) and use the money from both cars to buy an S2k!
