an slr doesn't really help with composition of a picture though
it just makes the quality of em look bettter
exactly. If I took the exact same picture with my camera, it would only look half as good as what would come out of an slr. I know it doesnt just instantly give you creative vision, but it makes the need for it disappear.

Ehh... I would say, a good camera makes you a better photographer, like a fast car makes you a better driver. How's that for an analogy.

I visit a forum for my camera (Fuji S5100) quite often and there are people on there who can take pics with 4 megapixel cameras that look better than those taken with the new 8 and 9 megapixel models. If a camera has full manual controls, picture quality depends mostly on the photographer's knowledge of all the camera's functions and photo expertise as a whole. In short, you got skills Cliff...

you guys missed my point completly.. I am in no way trying to discredit the man's talent, he's obvoiusly got it. Heres a twist on your analogy that explains what I was thinking. Take Michael Shumacher and let him do two laps on the Ring. One lap in a Chevy Aveo, and one lap in a 575 Maranello, which do you think will have better results?
