Default Supercharger Jackshaft

Does anyone know what a supercharger jackshaft is and what its purpose is? A friend of mine asked me and we are both scratching our heads about it.

according to popular hot rodding magazine the jackshaft takes the power from the front of the engine ,and transfers it to the rear of the engine to run the blower this ingenius drive system eliminates the need for massive reworking of the stock crank-driven engine accessories

So the supercharger is driven from the back (facing the trunk when installed) of the supercharger?

Ok the best way I can put this is.

The rod going from the drive belts and that side of the engine to the supercharger is the jackshaft.

That's what my civic should look like under the hood. What kind of power does that piece of artwork put out? And who created it?
VERY nicely done!

That is a Vortec supercharger... they managed to squeeze almost 100hp off an S2000 with their s/c kit... if not more than 100hp. They know what the f*** they are doing.
