Default sword cleaning?

Okay, this is probably going to sound pretty random, but does anybody know how to clean rust off a swordblade? I have a small collection (5) of katanas, and one of them apparently didn't have oil on the blade (could've sworn it did), and it consequently formed a bit of rust in various parts of the blade while it was in its scabbard. Anybody know how to (safely) get rid of the rust?

Check this stuff out. I clean a 1985 rusted bike with this stuff. well it was just surface rust. But it worked great.

All righty... I'll see if I can't find some of that stuff somewhere around here... think Advance Auto or Autozone would carry it? The sword just has surface rust, so I don't think it'll be that hard to get rid of.

I got mine at auto zone. I think like $4

Its like a cotton ball. You just tear a little piece off and rubb where rust is. I use it on my wheels to . Gets the brake dust off easily

Yeah, but I'm not sure if any amount of sanding would mess up the edge... it has a wave-frosted edge, and I don't want to mess it up... I think I'll probably go with that polish stuff. If it doesn't work, I might resort to wetsanding.

(and I'm surprised I haven't gotten any "playing with your sword" jokes thrown at me yet lol)

How much are these swords that you are talking about? Like under a grand or so?

Theyre the cheap ones... like $50-$100 each.. being 18, I really can't afford the exepnsive swords yet

I hear blood does a great job at getting rid of rust.
