test drove a VW
my friend from D.C. had a previous generation Jetta VR-6 and let me drive it tonight.
all i can say is "floats like a butterfly, stings like a, uh, waterbuffalo..." lol.
squishy handling + rubbery shifter + decent but uninspired acceleration = german touring???
i just don't get it.

well, a Jetta isn't exactly a sporty car, so what did you expect? It's softer then civic and provides better creature comfort. It's a car to use for transportation from A to B, so naturally it's soft so you it's not bumpy (much more comfortable then a civic). As far as reliability goes, I think that it's pretty much a hit or miss. I have a 2000 Jetta 2.0 with 70k miles and the only problem it ever had was a bad coolant temp sensor, so I can't really complain. Besides, the new VWs are supposed to be better. However, I'd much rather take Si over the new GTI (it's a better car and costs much less)
