Default Thinking of selling my 1997 EX Coupe

My 1997 EX coupe that belonged to my late wife is approaching a whopping 82,000 miles and I am thinking about selling it. I really don't need 2 cars and I am getting tired of maintaining 2 vehicles. It is not like the Civic requires much, it just started getting to me that I had to have the AC fixed, again, and now it looks like I need new shocks and bushings along with a couple of other minor things...

Can anyone talk me into keeping both a 1997 Civic with 82k on the odometer and a 2006 Mustang GT with 33k on the odometer? If not, I plan to detail it this weekend, strip the sound system, and put it up for sale.

better gas mileage and it's only got 82k miles... that's a lot of life left on that car

I agree!

82K isn't even half of that civics life! I wouldn't sell.

The only advantage to selling it now IMO is you will get more money for it now with 82K versus selling it down the road with 165K miles. because most people know that buying a civic thats well taken care of with 82K miles on it, is going to be a good buy long term.

One of my friends wants to buy it and if the sale falls through with him, I am going to keep it. I don't want to mess with the hassle of dealing with Joe/Jane public if I put this in the local classifieds.

I have a 2000 ex with 173k on it. Did a tune up when I got it with 100k on it. Did water pump, timing belt, new rotors at 165ish. Do oil changes about every 8k miles.

Knock on wood, but my car runs great. 83k on the civic is like 33k on the mustang lol. I'd say keep it and maintain it like you should

I would keep it...82K is very low for the year. I quit driving my '95 2 1/2 years ago and it had about 202K!

Oh well, I've decided to go forth with my plans to sell my 1997 Civic EX coupe. The weather didn't cooperate this past weekend with regards to getting it detailed, but I don't think that is going to stop me from listing it.

I want to thank everyone on the forum for putting up with me over the last couple of years. I really enjoyed having a forum to help me with my issues as well as a place to purchase parts from to replace my worn or broken stock pieces.

This site is a great reference source!
