I torque down lug nuts. Always. No exceptions.

My favorite tool is a hammer. Second favorite tool is a long ass piece of pipe. Third favorite is my snap-on 2' breaker bar that I slip the pipe on and jump onto.

Haha I love pry bars, nothing like using leverage. And I keep a 4' pipe close by lol.

Actually, the only thing we really torque to spec on a regular basis would be head bolts. Other than those, everything is tightened to German torque spec (gudentite. If gudentite can't be achieved then we revert to gudenuff).

So you don't torque down main caps and crap like that and just do gunenuff?

i dont own a torque wrench, i use the german gudintight, after workin on vehicles for so many years you are able to tighten something down to were you know its gudintight.

Just got back from Sears and spent $200. Picked up a set of metric pro wrenches since they're on sale, feel pretty nice. I've used a lot of Snap Ons and Matcos an Macs and they feel pretty good. Only big difference between these and the Snap on is Snap Ons anti stripping technology. They have the lil ridges in the open end and flank drive on the box, but for $90 they are a nice set of wrenches. No cheap polished **** from harbor that's for sure.

I am a snap-on guy myself. I have a few Mac and Matco tools. I guess its just easy to call the snap-on guy and have him come to me any time i need something of break something. Saves me gas. lol

Just bought a new impactttttt. I was originaly going to buy the Matco MT1769A, it is $420 off the site but the Matco guy comes on Mondays and I'm sure he could've got me a deal, I was bidding on one that is unused and still in box on ebay too. That Matco impact is really nice by the way, highly recommend it, and it has the forward/reverse switch on the back. But instead I found an awesome deal on craigslist! I bought a Snap On MG725. They are $420 new. The guy barely used it, it is in amazing condition, he said he likes his IR more. He had it for $250, I gave him $200, drop 40 min each way to get it. But for a deal like that it is completely worth it, I could take this impact to the Snap On guy and get more money for it from him haha. But I love it, it is insanely powerful. 1190 ft/lbs of torque in reverse, 800 in forward. Talk about a beast. The only thing with the gun (which I knew already) is that they are really loud. So I will be ordering a new cover and the muffler for the gun from Snap On. $10 each thing so oh well, the muffler is basicaly a wad of like a cottony material that you stuff up the ehaust port lol. All in all it was a good buy, and saved me a lot of money over the Matco.

Just bought some replacements for lost and broken tools.

And I got bored and actually made a spreadsheet of tools and storage things I still need to buy... Just under $2k. Life at work will be so easy once I have everything (yeah, professional mechanic for over a year and I still have $2k worth of tools to buy) lmao
