Trade or keep?
i know this guy who is selling his 92-95 civic dx hatch back. All i know that is done to the car is a 95 gsr swap, dc sports headers, AEM intake, and some sort of exhaust, and some sort of springs and struts, they dont ride like stock springs cut. havent seen them, it was very dark outside so i couldnt tell. The bad things about the car, broken side view mirrow, no carpet, rpm is working but not speedometer, the radio face was stolen, and the car engine check light is on, though the owner told me he was running way to rich. It also has some rust on the back of the rear quater panel. He said he would take my car, as a trade and 1800 in cash also with my brothers 17in wheels with tires. So my question is that should i keep my 97 civic cx hatchback, stock with exhaust or should i trade him and give him 1800 in cash. In my opinion, its a bit too much to give him 1800 because stock for stock, my car is worth a bit more than his. Anyways do you guys/gals think it is a good trade, hit me back with some opinions because if i do neeed to do it then, then it must be quick since it up for sale. I'll post more pictures up later tonight, just got back home and feel kind of lazy. So hit me up with what you think i should do. Thanks alot.
EDIT: btw, i test drove it, it is fast, i can chirp in 3rd just normal shifting. Ride may seem way too stiff. Mileage on car is about 110.xxx. Though i think dx's come with no tach. Anways the milage on the motor is around 50K or so.

well with all the work that still needs to be put into it, i would research it a little more. find out exactly why the check light is on, find out exactly what kind of suspension is installed, the face plate to the stereo would prolly run about $40 to replace, the gauge cluster might be easy to replace ($80+ for another). find out all the little details before you agree to anything. and also try to get the trade down to car for car if possible.
hm....tough choice. i would agree with psycho, go and investigate more about the problems with the 92-95. go and look at it in the daytime and drive it again in the daytime. look everything over and make sure nothing it wrong with the engine. i know when i did a swap i had 9 check engine lights and the guys who did the swap got them to go away. so it might just be a bad sensor or something. its up to you man, but it just sounds like there is way too much work to do on the other car. also if he wants 1800 you could get a b series swap with a little bit more than 1800, so swap an engine in your car next.
i was telling him that we huld just do a car for car trade, but he keeps on telling me about how much the swap costs. I know how much it costs, but like aryiman said, i can get a b-series swap with ~1800 bucks. So im going to go and check the car out later, it does seems like a bit of work, but well see how it goes.
i said you could prolly get one for 700 bucks more, so 2500. if you have the money, do the swap in the 97 yourself instead of trading for a car.
i got mine for 3200 but that was with lsd tranny and some other extras
