one of my friend's moms fell out on a class IV rapid
oh ****, thats no good. i've been down class III's before in a fiberglass flatbottom canoe, lot of fun. one of the canoes was aluminm though, it tipped and got wrapped around a rock
yeah. we were on a class IV (its usually a class III, but when the waters low enough its IV...five ppl have died in it in the same amount of years) and there were five in the raft. theres this one really big rock that you have to get around...if you hit it its bad, if you hit it wrong your pretty much screwed because you can get sucked under and caught in the undertow. one of the guides was guiding us down the part of the rapids and was standing on the rock and guided them too close to the rock and they all flipped. she somehow ended up on the bottom of the river and instinctively kicked off...but you know...you never stand up in rapids...and she broke her toe and had a big gash down her shin. then she hit a rock and momentarily lost consiousness and floated about a quarter mile more down the river before she got out of the water.
