Well, I made it.
Ok, so I just got power and cable back today. The people across the street still don't have power, nor does my brother or my mom. They are on a generator. We didn't get it so bad here, all of my bushes and plants were uprooted and anything not bolted down (and some that were) is gone or destroyed. At least we still have drinking water. Since NO, is flooded the drinking water has become contaminated and the sewage is mixing with the flood waters and now there is a chance for widespread disease.
They have declared Marshal Law in most of the area and residents cannot go back to their houses for 2 months or more. Freaky lives right where Katrina hit land so I am worried about him and his family. I know they probably evacuated, but their house is probably gone. Anyone seen him around?
My buddy who lives near NO is going to have to come stay with me because his house is 12ft underwater and they won't even let him in the area to see it for at least a month.
I won't go into the grisly details about some of the deaths down here, but it's not a pleasant scene. As you probably know, 60% of the deaths of hurricanes are due to drowning and not the winds. People will climb into their attics to escape the flood waters and then get trapped becasue they can't get through the roof to the outside.
Freaky, as soon as you read this send me an e-mail or post something or just let us know you made it Brotha.
