Default well my dog has gone under the knife

well after 2 days of watching him puke we took him to the vet. they took some xrays and blood tests and turns out he had a blockage in his intestines as well as an inffection. well the other day they decided to do surgery to remove the blockage, turns out its part of his kong chew toy which btw is supposed to be indestructable......but as of now and 1400 later hes recovering quickly and i should have him back saturday afternoon. well theres a pic of LJ my 1.5 yo pansy pit behind bars

Thats good to hear. 10 years ago if that would have happened to him he would have been screwed.

Haha... you said 'dookie'

Glad to hear he's on the mend.

Two days before Christmas in 2004 my dog's stomach twisted (called gastric tortion) and she had to have emergency surgery and spent 5 days--including Christmas--in ICU. It really sucked, but the heap of cash we spent was more than worth it because she's totally healthy and energetic as ever. She's basking in the sunshine coming through the sliding door right now I don't know what I would have done if we'd lost her. I don't even want to think about it.

So, hopefully you get him back on time and he makes a full recovery. Have fun as he proceeds to bash his lampshade collar against everything in the house

lol they have already removed his "lampshade" not sure if thats a good thing but i guess i have to trust them. weird part was during those frist 2 days he was so lathargic and just layed in one spot. he usually is the center of attention and stands guard everytime the baby cries. even as sick as he was he still tried to get a few bites outta my rc truck. seemed like he had all his energy when after something but if there was no toys to play with he would just lay there. word from the vet just earlier was he is keeping his food and water down now so all we really have to focus on is his inffection and possible infection from surgery. i have a feeling hell pull through just fine though.

Good choice bringing him to the vet. Glad it all worked out man... it could have been a lot worse.

LJ likes to chew alot and he manages to chew through lots of his toys that arent supposed to be chewed through. im almost thinking of buying him a lawn mower tire but here its considered animal cruelty[>:]

update......got LJ back today and he seems to be back to normal, running up and down the stairs, terrorizing the other 2 dogs and cat. he on a soft food diet for the next week while his intestines heal from surgery. his diet sux because he cant eat much which makes me feel bad because im used to leaving a full bowl out so he can eat as he pleases but the doctors know best right? we also contacted the company which made his toy and they requested a copy of the bill and stated they will at least help pay for part of the bill if not all of it. im glad these people feel the same way we do toward animals and are willing to stand behind there product and help us out as much as possible. i wasnt expecting to get anything from them, i contacted them to let them know that the toy is actually not indestructable(and this isnt the first case). ill get a pic up sometime today of LJ not behind bars
