Default what does "bump" mean in a post?

sometimes when im reading a post i will see someone that will just post "bump" and i never got what that ment,anyone??
yes its a n00b question...

Posting a reply on a topic will "bump" it to the top of the forum, where more people will typically see it. Most people just post the word "bump" instead of making a complete reply. It's also the same as "TTT" (to the top).

^ exactly. It aslo is more of an excuse to put it to the top without being flamed or something. Kinda like a 'gimme'

Yeah, sept on a lot of forums its against the rules to bump, so you get flamed even harder.

ahhh i get it now..i never really see it in normal threads,i usually see it whens stuff for sale..i was looking in thos sections on HCF and i noticed it..cool stuff..im still a learning
