why do the old still drive?
well, today i was at a stop light when all of a sudden my car is launched 10 ft from where i was stopped. some 70 something year old rear ended the hell out of my car. i just got the stupid thing prepped for paint too! what the hell, it's like i always get bad luck. first its stolen now this. the funny part was that she had an 06 civic lx sedan and i have a 94 civic lx sedan. all she got was a dented hood whereas my car is left w/o an ***. no lie i was going to cry. some much work and money for what? anyways she said she thought the light was green and it turned red when she hit me. honestly, the elderly should either not be allowed to drive or at least tested on their ability to drive periodically. because now, i have no car, and no way to get to work. til monday anyway
i definitely agree with you. i think they should take a driving test every year after they are 65 years old. my grandpa is 82 and he still drives, absent minded of course and it scares me sometimes.
I was at a grocery store just last night at the checking stand where 2 old people were trying to figure out how the keypad worked.. the husband couldnt see the buttons while the wife couldnt remember the number of their PIN. By the time they recalled the number, the machine reset. Their combined efforts resulted into a 5 minute (no joke) check out process including angry old people swearing at eachother and an employee seconds away from calling an assisted living center to haul them away...
I was next in line to hear the lady at the register say "Good Lord, I can't imagine sharing a road with them".... NOW THE SHOCKING PART... THEY WERE PARKED NEXT TO ME IN A FORD EXCURSION!!! I was expecting a Buick or Cadillac but no, they sport the largest SUV known to man. I agree that the elderly should not be allowed to drive. Back in Japan when you get older you are stripped of driving privledges and given a bicycle. Older japanese people are incredibly agile and less dangerous to themselves and others when riding a good ol "mamachari" (old school 1-speed w/a basket in front)

i totaly agree, also when you are behind them and they are going 15 under the speedlimit or you see the ones that are going 15 over the speedlimit dodging cars, and gets away with it[:@][:@]

i was leaving work 2 weeks ago (on bicycle..cool huh) and this old man came and hit me with his tacoma. just had a bruise but. the dude should have been at home oodling his home care nurse.
Marty is correct. There are a ton of crashes on either side of the spectrum. The US allows anyone to drive as long as you can afford that whopping fee at the DMV to get your licence! I cracked up at that one! My freaking licence in Japan costed me 2 months of mandatory and grueling drivers training class (nothing like the states, believe me) and it costs 1800 bucks! Driving is definetly a privledge in every civilized country other than the USA
