Is it worth it?
SR swaps are a bit overrated from what I have seen. A KA-T will be a tq monster plus it will hold around 300hp in stock trim as it has forged internals stock. But the only 2 "kits" I have seen are around $3000 or more(one from greddy and the other from full-race). But I can assure that you are better off from a builders standpoint starting off with a 240 vs any civic. It is RWD, has IRS, the rear ends are solid(they hold the power from a LS1/ls2 just fine), plus the car is only 2700lbs with the heavy iron KA24(a LS1/LS2 weighs the same as the 2.4 KA24).
It's all in what you want from a car I guess. I like the styling and the abilities of interchange-ability of the 240 plus it dont weigh that much and there is every bit the aftermarket support for it as there is for a civic.

I've been thinking about the ka24de-t, but finding a decent ka around here (an area with very little true interest in tuning anything that doesn't involve a 6" lift kit) will be quite the challenge. Not to mention the lower mileage jdm engine vs. finding a usdm ka24 that might have only 120k miles.
Anyway, I'm going to see if I can't find a decent running ka24 around here to swap in until I can sell my civic for the sr20 swap. And, hey... if the ka24 runs nice and strong (and the compression is good), I might end up piecing together a turbo kit for it.

You can use a KA out of any RWD Nissan from 92 to 99 or 2000 I think, I am using a 98 Nissan Frontier truck engine. The main difference in the engines are the cam profiles like the engine I am using has 224 int./224 exh. cams, the S13's with the KA24DE in them have 232/248 cams. It is actually a real popular mod to put 2 exhaust cams from a S13 into the other KA's because it will give you 7 to 12whp more across the whole rpm range plus extend the rpm range all the way to redline(7000rpm)

And a little update on my 240sx progress... I'm going to check the car out next tuesday, and the guy is interested in trading it for my civic.. hopefully it'll be a straight-up trade. Anyway, if all goes well, I'll be driving a manual 240sx by next weekend (not this coming one). And this guy actually seems like he wants to sell the car... he hasn't stopped replying to my emails like some other people lol

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how much money I'll need to spend to get the 240 driveable... it needs a rear caliper replaced (what, like $40 for a re-built one at autozone?), exhaust (I'm thinking the muffler has a hole or something... I have a Magnaflow muffler sitting in my garage, and a DNX sitting at a friend's house), outer tie rods and wheel bearings (that's where we get into the real money), an alignment an ECU connector ($5 at a junkyard, maybe), and it needs to be inspected. I'm figuring in the range of $500-$600 (and a ton of spare time lol) to get it ready to be my new DD.

So my dad decided I'm not allowed buying the 240sx, nor am I allowed trading my civic for it (which I'll admit was probably a bad trade, but still... I'd like a rwd 5-speed that gets more than 2mpg and actually looks good). Instead, they offered me a deal (which pissed me off even more).... they'll give me the $4k they were going to give me for my next car (which means I'll probably have to get an '01+ with >100k miles), and I'll get to spend whatever I think I'll be able to sell my civic for (I'm thinking at least $2500). So my new budget is now $6500, which still does me no good since apparently any vehicle more than 7 years old with more than 100k miles on the clock is automatically a f**king piece of s**t that will absolutely break down within the first hundred miles... which makes me wonder why my 14-year-old 108k mile POS is still running and hasn't fallen apart, because we all know that my mom knows everything there is to know about cars and the reliability of cars she's never heard of. So I might be able to talk them into an s14, but I'd still have to find one around here (s13's are hard to come by around here, I'm sure s14's in half-decent condition are like the f**king holy grail)

Dude i say keep the civic, s13 and s14 are nice but hard to find in nice condition and common everywhere, Especially the drift scene or like here in houston thats the reason why i picked up an ae86 instead.
^ nah, civic's an auto, and I don't have $1,000 sitting around to throw iat a 5-speed swap. And there's no way I'm driving an auto anymore... I put up with the d**m thing for almost three years now, I'm tired of it. I'd just get another 5th gen civic, but my mom wants me to get a "more reliable" car (like my f**king civic isn't reliable?)... because apparently imports aren't reliable. Actually, the reliability thing is the reason I'm not allowed getting a $500 s13 rolling chassis and dropping in a $2000 s13 sr20... apparently there's no way a car & engine that cheap will be reliable.
So I was looking at getting a 2g Eclipse gsx (if I'm getting another car, I'd like it to be awd or rwd), but there's really none around here with the exception of a '97 with 107k miles that some douche is trying to sell for $11k because it's "a rare car"... so the gsx is out of the question, so now I'm looking at an '01 v6 mustang (going to look at it thursday). Hopefully I get it....
but here's what pisses me off... apparently I'm not allowed modifying whatever car I get... which is f**king rediculous... I mean, I can understand the whole "I'm going to be going back to school this september so I shouldn't be wasting money" thing (it's not like wyotech's even expensive in the first place), but come on... I hate stock cars! Well, stock cars that I can afford anyway... if we were talking about something like an M3, I'd be perfectly happy to leave the thing stock... but a v6 mustang? A stock 5-speed civic will be able to keep up (no offense)! Not to mention I've fallen in love with the Roush stage 2 body kit with side-exit dual exhaust *drools*.

If I do get the mustang (looking likely since it's an '01 and only has 57k miles, so naturally my parents approve), here's what I want to do:
-lowering springs (3" drop if I can find any... the things have like 7" of wheel gap stock)
-Roush stage 2 body kit
-Roush SM01 exhaust
-Sequential taillights (look it up on youtube if you don't know what they are.... they're effin' sick)
-Saleen-style 18x9/18x10 wheels
-K&N filter with silencer box removed (same performance gains as a CAI)
-headers (not sure what brand yet)
that's pretty much it... I want to keep it near stock (well, my version of "near-stock") and not spend too much money on it since I plan on getting an s13 hatch after getting out of school. Looks like I'll be sneaking those mods onto the car while I'm at school and hoping my parents don't notice when I come to visit lol "What's that mom? Oh, yeah... the exhaust has always been in front of the back wheels and loud as hell... where have you been?"
But I'm definitely getting the sequential tails... those things kick so much a** it isn't funny. And I don't think my parents would really be paying attention to what my brake lights are doing

haha those sequential taillights are pretty cool, and the roush stage 2 bodykit spells all types of a** whoopins lol.
The Mustang is a Nice Choice though V8 or V6 both are nice to me but the Eclipse in general arent very reliable gs gsx rs etc.
