01 civic not running right
I HAVE A 01 CIVIC EX AND RECENTLY WHEN I TURN IT ON IT IDELS HIGH 3000 RPMand it never goes down. i was wo0ndering if ya'll knew where i could start to fix my problem. also my throttle is not stuck
thanks |
Look for leaky or disconnected vacuum hoses -- brake booster, PCV valve, etc. I think those have a cold idle control widget on the thermostat housing that's easy to break. Clean your IACV. Make sure the throttle body is securely bolted to the manifold and the manifold is secure on the engine. Double check that the throttle plate actually closes fully. Start the engine with the air pipe off so you can see the throttle plate. If it is sucking in a lot of air through the hole next to the throttle plate, the IACV is stuck open.

Is the CEL ON?

If you let it "idle" at 3000 rpm for long enough, the CEL will come on with an IACV-related code, but that does not mean the problem is the IACV.

Unlike 6th generation Civics, which have several "IACV-related" CEL codes, the 7th generation 01 Civic has a single IACV CEL code (P1519) that specifically indicates a problem with the IACV or its circuit. Therefore, if CEL code P1519 is thrown, troubleshooting would become highly focused on the IACV and its circuit. Other items to check would be whether the throttle cable is adjusted too tightly or the idle speed is adjusted too high. |
sorry for not replying guys but i still have this problem. the scanner threw a map sensor code out so i replaced it and it still does it. no idea what it could be. and not engough funds to take it to a mechanic. now i get no codes, and i cleaned out the tb so. any advice would be good thanks
