Default 02 si won't start

Ok I have an 02 si and just got it out of the body shop and it won't start. when you turn the keys all the dash lights come on like normal and when you go to start it all you hear is a rapid click click click click. Not sure if it is the starter or if any of you have had this happen before. any help would be much appreciated. If it's the starter I can get to that myself. We tested the battery and it's holding it's charge so we have eliminated that problem.

That happened to me just over this weekend. I changed the battery and that seemed to fix it. Did it by any chance start to turn and stop... and than just click very fast? thats what mine did.

hm, when my 99 did that same thing, it was due to a shot battery.

sounds exactly like what i went through. I then really realized it was the battery when I went to lock it with keyless and instead of getting that nice Jap sounding chirp, it sounded like a car under 2 feet of water. Got the new battery and havnt had another problem yet.

ok so here is where I am at so far with this ordeal. Turns out the starter was bad so I go to get it rebuilt and it was to far gone to get rebuilt, so I but one off a wrecked civic with 1000 miles on it. Take it to the mechanics and they say it worked but the only problem they are running into now is they think the car at one time had a remote start system on it and it's burning the starter up since it is locking it in place. When I got the car there was no remote start system with it. How can I tell at this point if it does or not and can that be removed pretty easily? This project has turned out to be one disaster after another.

Take a 12 volt test light and ground the clamp. Take the other end and touch it to the smaller wire going to the starter. Have a friend try to start the car. If the light comes on most likely the starter is bad, and you dont have a remote starter, or burgler alarm. You also need to take a meter and see what the battery voltage drops to when your trying to start it. Shouldnt drop below 10 volts. If it does replace the battery. Good luck.
