Default 03 Civic LX keyless entry

Hi, just acquired an 03 Civic LX, driver's side key doesn't fit. Key does work on passenger side and trunk. I was surprised that it didn't have keyless entry like my 00 Civic VP. I am tired of going in on the passenger side and want to know how to proceed. Would a keyless entry device work on the driver's side even though the key doesn't? The Honda.com site does list that I have a "Remote Entry System: Accessory". So does that mean it's already there, and I just don't have the fob and can get one and program it, or that the previous owner didn't want the keyless entry option.

If I just need the fob, where is the best place to get one, and if I need it to be totally installed, which I hear is around $300 at dealer, any other options? Sorry, I don't know what to do about this. I can't figure out why the key only goes in halfway on driver's side, but works on the others. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had this same car. It does already have keyless. Though never had any issues like this. The only issue I had was the dam thing automatically locks the doors after 5 minutes. Unless your key is in the ignition. I would take the key to a local Honda dealer and have them look at the key.

I just got a 04 Honda Civic SI coupe (Canada version). The doors don't lock automatically, which is disappointing now cuz I was used to the other car. But the car only came with 1 dam key, and need to have the dealer cut and program for another one.

You might try some graphite-based key lubricant in the lock as the key possibly works but the lock itself is gummed up.

I also would think that you just need a remote as I suspect that the car was equipped with the control unit.

Thanks guys, one more question, is a Honda fob the only option, or are there any good aftermarket ones out there. Not going the Ebay route. Will try the graphite lubricant idea. If that doesn't work, guess it's off to the dealership.
