Default 06 Civic thud sound when shifting into drive from reverse

My 2006 Civic is making a thud sound right after shifting into drive from reverse. Sometimes hear same noise when taking off from complete stop. Car shifts gears fine with no slippage. My mechanic could find no problem and chalks it up to an accident the car was in a year ago with front-end damage. Drained and changed tranny fluid 12,000 miles ago.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

hold brake and put car from drive into reserse a couple of times while somebody watches the motor, and inspect the motor mounts

Mine does this (along with many other problems) and we found out it was the rear motor mount. Going to have it replaced later on today or tomorrow. The rear mount was $72 but we think all we need is the rubber padding inside (says the mechanic) so we're going to figure out if we can buy that alone for cheaper.
