Default 1.5 to a 1.6

i have a plain jane 1.5dx and i want to put in the upgraded1.6, is this something that can just bolt right in? i have herd alot say yes and no and i have herd that you have to get the ecu to the 1.6 for it to work? and my 1.5 is non vtec, i would like a vtec in the 1.6 and i do know you have to hook up the vtec selenoid

It bolts right in.

If the new one has VTEC (and you want the VTEC to work), you need to replace the ECU and run wires from the ECU to the VTEC solenoid. A VTEC engine will run with a non-VTEC ECU, except of course the VTEC will never kick in.

And to have a Vtec with out the "Vtec" would not be worth it XD it should not be to hard to run a few wires, i just did an engine swap in a 1991 Toyota Celica, and i assure you its not to hard (especially in the civics where you have enough room to fit a v6 XD)

so its just as simple as getting the ecu from a 1.6 and run your two jumper wires from your vtec on the new motor to the ecu?

instead of getting a whole motor and swapping it, why not just do a mini-me upgrade. its cheaper and you will probably get around the same power
