Default 10w40????

Hey,

I have a 99 civic with 180000 kms (111900 miles) and I use a full syn Mobil 1 10w30 in my engine. I find that I am burning oil as I am having to add oil more frequently between oil changes. Should I move up to a 10w40 mixture as I have heard that thismay reduce the burning effect? I do a lot of hwy driving.

Any comments on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I think they make a high mileage oil thats supposed to help with that. Synthetic oil tends to leak easier than the reg oil because it's thinner. if your haveing problems I would suggest gettingthe kindit says in your manual(or oilcap). For brand get one for high miles reg oil, not syn.

Castrol GTX high mileage is what I use. Its a dino but I also add lc20 to it. I think my car leaks more than it burns though.
