1987 924 Porsche
So my buddy has a rear wheel 1987 924 porsche
I don't know much about it...however, I do know it makes a nasty knocking noise, very, very similar to a bad CV Joint.
So we lifted it up, took off the right rear axle, took apart the joint, cleaned it all off, inspected it and saw nothing but some minor heat spots.
But nothing that would cause a knocking.
We were very convinced it was the right rear, but we don't wanna take apart the left one and find out it's fine too.
Was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what else it could be.
I don't know much about the car and have only been around it for 10 hours and this was a few weeks ago...so I'll answer any questions based on what I remember.
But the sound was exactly like a bad cv joint. It got faster with acceleration, louder on turns (it knocked while going straight, though) and it was quite audible.

Not sure, we didn't go over any bumps, just drove around the neighborhood once.
I'll ask about either of those and suggest an issue with the upper strut mount.
He also posted (I think) on www.924.org, so I've been searching around there a little
but my knowledge of cars is very limited
let alone older exotics

This is what my buddy aimed me. Take a hack
so the clicking comes from the back, sounds like it comes from the right side
sometimes it starts right as i leave the driveway
and sometimes i can drive around for a while without any problem
the faster i drive the more quickly it clicks
the speed doesnt change when i shift gears, the clicking stays fast
if i step on the gas harder then it is a little louder but if i only use a very little bit of gas then its a lot quieter
Here's his post on a porsche forum:
