Default 1990 lx no reverse

As the title says, I have a 1990 civic lx 1.5 liter and today when I went to get out of my parking space at Kroger I had no reverse. There was no noise, nothing. It was just like having another neutral gear. I have searched about it and I know transmission is one of those take it to the shop things but since there has been no other problems with the transmission recently and I didn't hear anything like the gear grinding I was hoping there was an electrical issue I could check or something of that nature. Thanks in advance for any help

Automatic? About all that the typical DIY person can do is check the fluid level. Do the forward gears still work?

You can try moving the handle very slowly from park to neutral to see if it ever catches. (also make sure that in Park, the wheel park lock engages like it should). If you can find reverse somewhere, just not at "R", adjust the cable linkage.

Yeah. All forward gears work. 4 speed auto. I am at work but I will check tonight. Is the cable hard to get to or is it just in the center console by the shifter?

That is good! Maybe something was loose and it resettled itself
