Default 1991 Civic Transmission troubles

I just bought a 91 civic and it seems to be having some transmission issues. It idles erratically when in park or neutral, and when in drive (automatic) it tries to pull the carwhen stopped. Is there a filter in my transmission that would benefit from being flushed or replace? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

most likely its something to do with your idle.... but dont have the tranny flushed cause if they flush the tranny it blows out all the junk and it all clogs up the screens inside the tranny and burns out your tranny VERY FAST AFTERWARDS!
ive always heard that you should ONLY drain and refill the fluid if anything!

All automatics "try to pull the car when stopped". It is their nature. Any automatic car will roll forward on level pavement while idling in Drive if you don't hold the brake. Of course it will pull harder than normal if the engine is idling too fast.

It's a good idea to change the transmission fluid and filter regardless whenever you get a "new" used car. Beware that many generic ATF's don't meet Honda spec, and often cause problems. It'd be best to buy fluid from the dealer.

The car pulls way more than it should when not moving and in drive. Im going to play with it a little and see if I can figure out what the problem is.Your rightflushing a transmission can cause problems, but Ive also heard of the flush solving problems with filters. I think I did read somewhere that this tranny has an internal filter that is hard to get to.Im probably not going to touch anything in the tranny until I know in fact it is the tranny.
