1992 civic oil leak
My 92 civic d15b7 engine is leaking oil from above the oil filter.
Can anyone tell me what the item is just above the filter. It has wires running into it. Dealer will not help in figuring out the identity. Wants the work for the shop.

The oil may be leaking from the oil pressure switch, breather chamber, head gasket (where the block meets the head), or valve cover gasket. Clean oil from the general area and then localize the source of any fresh oil to distinguish.
If the leak is coming from the oil switch, and the switch itself is not damaged, them drain the oil, remove the switch, clean the threads of the switch and where it inserts, coat threads with liquid gasket, and torque the switch to spec (see diagram).

There's probably a rubber boot over your switch. Pull it back and see where the oil is coming from. The wire may come unplugged but that's OK. All this switch does is control the oil pressure warning light on the dashboard. Now that is pretty important but you can run without it for a test. They can spring a leak where the metal meets the plastic. When that happens, you need a new switch. These should be available at any parts store.
