Default 1998 Civic HX Tranny Slip

Currently having tranny problems in my 1998 Civic HX with a CVT automatic transmission seems to be slipping sometimes at a go and sometimes when I hit the gas pedal quickly...I'm also having surging idle problems along with it. Could the surging idle be related or could it be from my tranny fluid being old and worn out? (It has been give or take 40k miles since tranny flush) Any help/Advice is much appreciated.

They made automatic HX models?

Anyway, I would check the trans for leaks. I think the CVT runs off of vacuum pressure, but can't remember at the moment. Is there anything in the owner's manual about changing the belts in there? I haven't seen the inside of a CVT since I was repairing an old Honda Odyssey ATV several years ago.

If it were me i'd check the tranny fluid and pray to god it isn't black with metal shavings.

The Tranny fluid is kinda a reddish which im told is the color it comes....If the tranny is in fact ran on vacuum pressure then that's probably my problem because sometimes when i come to a quick stop ill hear a sort of ghost sound or air escaping from my engine bay which could possibly be an air leak...?
