I Dont have an Air Intake system, I think something got wet. but I'm not sure what will cause the engine to turn off when is raining, But when there is no Rain there is no Problem.

I think I know whats wrong. There was water in your distributor. They cut off when water gets in. Once it drains it will let you start your engine back up. You might need to get it replaced. Hitting a puddle also is a no no, water seriously splashes up into your engine. Ive found mud stuck to the bottom of my hood before wwhich tells you that can happen.

Yeah, water in the dizzy. That's why you cover it when you clean your engine... Although it is a little high up, so that would have to be some serious puddleage. Water in the alternator can also cause problems, but not the kind it sounds like you're describing.

You might just want to take the cap off and check the contacts first...

RE: 1999 civic ex engine turning off
get a blow dryer after it. if that doesnt help, replace it. thats how my first one went out. i was driving in the rain, then when i got where i was going, it wouldnt start anymore. so i dried it out till it would, and the problem just got worse over the next few days, till i had to replace it.

Hi
I was looking online the distributor, and it has so many different parts like Distributor cap, rotor, housing, etc I'm not sure which one to replace can you advice. Thank you |
RE: 1999 civic ex engine turning off
the thing you want is the distributor. it should come with the coil, ICM, and all the internal parts. there is a good chance that its just the ICM, but the rest will probably follow it in breaking. and the ICM is like 20 bucks cheaper than the whole thing. and its not worth buying just the ICM unless you are sure thats the problem.
