Default 1999 civic SE no start...please help

Hey guys, im new to this site. just need a little feed back on a problem i have with my civic. I purchased a 99 civic SE from a coworker. i took it off her for nearly next to nothing knowing it won't start. Her brother is a mechanic and it came down to it not starting because of corrosion on wiring. the car originally came from out east in montreal so i could kinda see where he's coming from. should i try replacing the small stuff like igniter, coil etc before thinking of replacing wiring harness and or ECU?

Thanks

That's not a common problem, if it did happen it would likely be one spot corroded that can be repaired without replacing the whole harness. I suggest checking the whole car again from scratch before replacing stuff based on what someone else said.

Fuel -- Does the fuel pump prime? Does clean fuel come out of the return line from the regulator if you disconnect it? Do the injectors get 12 volt power?

Spark -- Do all 4 spark plug wires make sparks when you crank?

Compression -- Is the cam in time (i.e. timing belt not skipped or stripped)?

i would try to start with the basics, plugs vaccum lines, and then compression test and timing check , then go up from there

hope this helps

Thanks guys. the car also had remote start and he also assumed it was that and ripped wires off so i have no clue what he has ripped outta there. i spoke to a mech who does work for me and he said the same thing about it's unlikely it is corrosion because he has done lots of cars from the east like mine and never came across a situation where corrosion caused a no start problem. Will get it sorted next wk.

Take the oil cap off and watch inside while someone turns the key to crank. If the rocker arms don't move that means the timing belt has stripped.

Do the lights on the dash come on like they should? Oil and battery should come on and stay on, Check Engine should come on then go out.
