At last inspection the dealer informed me that my front struts need to be relplaced. Only have 59,000 miles on it. The dealer wants $500 to do the job. That seemed high so I went to a local parts store to check on the cost of the struts and what choices I might have. They said that they can not get struts for my car. Seems odd since there must be 50 scillion Civics on the road. Has anyone else had trouble finding struts for their 2001 Civic LX sedan? Also, does this model have a reputation for wearing out front struts prematurely?

 

I've still got the stockers on my car after 75,xxx miles. Also, you shouldn't have trouble finding them. I know the major brands (Koni, Tokico etc) have them for 7th gens.

 

My front struts on 2001 EX wore out at 72K miles. I discovered this after a front-end shake above 45 mph, and shimmies during turning.
I bought OEM and did it myself for $300.

wow i am surprised that the struts are worn at only 59k.....is the suspension stock ??

anyho .. put some KYB struts . a lot cheaper than dealer and they are pretty good your local import store should carry them

 

is this hard to replace them? I heard there are steering componets connected to them. Im in desperate need of new struts! What else will I need to do the front assembly?
