Default 2001 Clutch issue

My wife has a 2001 Civic EX and last night she began having an odd issue with the clutch.

When changing gears, she takes her foot off the gas and as soon as she presses the clutch in, the car revs to 3,000 RPMs.

I can't for the life of me figure out why pressing the clutch would cause the car to rev that high. When its in neutral, it idles like normal.

Any thoughts?
