Hello all. I am new to this forum...I bought a 2001 Honda Civic DX last November (2019), after my beloved 2005 Subaru Forester ate the timing belt (oof).

I just recently had the strangest event occur.

Upon “ignition”, there are no sounds coming from the starter relay, or the starter. No typical clicks coming from the relay before crank, and most certainly no fire due to no crank. I did, however, notice that the cooling fans immediately engage upon turning the key into the “ON” position in the vehicle. I can hear the fuel pump engage, the radiator fan spin up, and the dash lights up with the usual “Maint. Req.” and CEL lights, but all else is normal. I have not looked to see if there are any new codes...I did, however, replace the starter due to the plastic housing becoming brittle and cracking upon diagnostic removal. Yet, the issue resumes...

Any input would be lovely. As I am typically a Subaru gal, I’m hoping it’s something silly that I overlooked. Honda seems to have some strange practices when it comes to diagnostics.

I was doing all of this in the parking lot at work today, and gave up early due to the beautiful unpredictability that is a Northern Michigan springtime.

***UPDATE: Upon re-inspection of my work yesterday, I noticed that the battery ground cable was so corroded, it was about to fall apart. I removed it, and installed a new ground cable. The vehicle now turns over, but will not fire. Also, the radiator fan isn’t kicking on, the fuel pump is not priming, and when I remove the key from the ignition (or into the OFF position), all of the needles for the gauges are fluttering...the oil pressure light and CEL are flickering, even with the key out of the ignition. I’m so beyond frustrated with chasing these electrical gremlins...any input would be much appreciated.
