I've just recently picked up a 2002 honda civic lx. Its got some sort of electrical problem from what i can tell. it starts fine but then the tach will run up for a split second and the check engine light flickers on and i can hear a relay click behind the glove box. I does this repeatedly about 6 or 7 times then the tach goes to 0 and it runs smooth. This also seems to be causing the transmission to not want to shift correctly.
I've looked everywhere and a few cases just like this but I've never found an answer to it yet. I'm new to hondas so any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I've never heard of anything like this. See if the ECU is throwing a code. Free read at autozone.
