For the last few days when I start my Civic, it will not let me put it in gear (Auto) until I pull the key out of ignition and insert it into the key lock next to the auto transmission shifter and then place in N and then reinsert key in ignition when it starts fine. Is there a switch (perhaps on the brake pedal) that could be broken?

 

Very well could be the brake pedal switch. At least on earlier models this was all tied into the brake light circuit. Do the brake lights work?
