Hello, I just bought a honda civic 2004 with 104k miles on it. Its a manual transmission.

My Problems are.

1. Engine noise sounds like a beat up pickup truck when started cold. When started warm not as bad but still sounds like a clug clug chug chug noise when accelerating or even just runing idle. I have a 2005 civic vp and engine sounds crisp and nothing like this one. This one sounds like it has maybe some sort or leak inexhaust but was just inspected by dealer before i purchased it.

Any info will be helpfull

2. Cruise control works sometimes then just shuts off for no reason and then you cant turn it back on.

3. The infamous brake clicking pedal. Ive read up on this and its a common issue but my question is if its a brake switch would it effect the cruise control

I just want to thank everyone for any reply's in advance. last year you guys pointed me towards a input shaft issue in my transmission and was spot on

Check for exhaust leak yourself by blocking the tailpipe while the engine idles. Pressure should build up quietly. A leak will make a hissing noise from the spot of the leak.

 

The brake thing was the brake switch and the noise is a cracked exhaust manifold

does anyone know how bad of a thing the cracked manifold is..

what can it hurt
