Default 2005/EX - Transmission problem already?

All -

Over the past six months or so I've had occasional difficulty throwing my 2005 Civic EX (standard tranny) into reverse. It now seems to be getting worse, to where it might take me 3-4 tries (of really slamming it into reverse). My own uneducated opinion is that it seems to be related to car/air temperature ... I live in Albuquerque and and the last few weeks it's gotten to be worse on the hottest of days.

So, this is a transmission problem, right? Is it very costly to repair? My car is exactly 25 months old ... am I out of any warranty coverage on this thing?

Any help or insight would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Brett

ive had that problem sometimes. i dont think its as serious as that just firmly push it in and slowly start to let off the clutch and give it gas all the while pushing it in to gear. that works for me.

I have a 98 not 05 civic, but what I do if it doesn't go in reverse first try (which is usually never) is put it into neutral, release clutch, push clutch back in and put it back into reverse, usually always works. Might need to do it once or twice sometimes. But it's normal for honda manuals toact this way everyone I've talked to has to do the same thing. Not tottaly sure about the newer generations.

put your car in first and then reverse... like clutch...first-reverse, and you should be set. Putting it in first lines everything up, it has something to do with the synchros in the trans i believe

I often have to put it in neutral, let out the clutch, put the clutch back inand then go to reverse on my '06. I have had this same problem on most of my manual tranny cars.

I think thats a safety feature so you wont go from 5th gear to reverse i think. Well like they said i always press the clutch and if it doesnt go in, neutral then release clutch and press it again, always works.

i also have the problem, it feels as if the stick doesnt go far enough back, i just continue to push it back (gently) and slowly lift the clutch up until it pops in gear
