2006 Civic EX w/ check engine light & codes: p2183, p2185, & p0111
Hi!
I am hoping someone can give me an idea of how costly these repairs will be - or are these codes too general? I know the first two are mostly the same thing. One has to do with the coolant sensor, and the other has to do with the air intake sensor.
I just found a technical service bulletin with the following info:
Component Description:
2. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING
Bulletin Number: A08030D
Bulletin Date: Mar 08
Vehicle: 2006 Honda Civic
Summary:
MIL ON WITH DTC P0111, P0128, P2183, OR P2185? CHECK ECT SENSOR 2. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10024896 )
These are the codes that are showing for my car. Does this mean that the Dealer would know this - is this like a recall? Sigh...
Also if anyone has experience dealing with warranties and Honda and has advice, let me know.
Thank you!!!

Try for a "good will" free repair from Honda when your car is somewhat out of warranty but it has a problem covered by a TSB. This would be done by going to a dealer and having them talk to corporate.
The ECT sensor is probably not very expensive but the IAT sensor is built into the MAF sensor so both are replaced as a unit, and MAF's tend to be expensive.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!!!
yes, I found more info. It's probably a loose or corroded connection near your ECT-2 sensor on the bottom of the radiator.
See page 5 on the PDF located here: http://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SN/a080300.PDF
Also, more info in this post: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2461422
My car is past its warranty, so I plan to check the ECT-2 sensor myself (haven't got to it yet). I wonder if we would be able to get a goodwill repair from Honda...

Hi
I have the same problem here with my civic 2006.
check engine light & codes: p2183, p2185, & p0111
My check engine light is randomely coming up and i guess it's simply a connector issue. (the light actually goes down by itself, without reseting it with my OBD2 reader).
I found this very interesting but the image is kind of not very clear to me

can anyone help me finding it
Thanks

The picture was taken from underneath, with the car up on a lift. The sensor is on the bottom of the radiator toward the left side. If it's like older models, there is a black plastic splash shield on the very bottom of the car that will need to be removed first to have the view shown in the picture.
