Default 2006 civic Fuel Gauge Indicator Problem

Hi everyone,
I'm facing a problem with my civic sedan 2006 EX.

Recently, its been indicating low fuel after only 7.5 gallons of consumption instead of the usual 10 or 11 gallons.
I do not know what went wrong. When I fill gas on 'empty', I fill 7.5 gallons, and the fuel indicator bars come back all the way upto full.

Can anyone guide me on what could be wrong? I'm afraid to go to the dealer and get ripped off without understanding anything.

Thanks,
Nupur

Is the car still covered by the Honda warranty? If so, bring the car to the dealership for service.
