Exclamation 200km full tank problem

ok heres my problem.first i dont know much about cars.

second. well ive bought a 95 civic 1.5l auto. 4dr lx bout 2 months ago and my mpg. is really bad. im getting about 200km on a full tank. thats about 124miles. i bought a civic hoping im getting good mpg. but i guess not with this one =/. i live in canada. so ya the temperature could be affecting my mileage. ok so. guy at work told me to do a tune up which i did. ( changed spark plugs. spark plugs cables. fuel filter) air filter. changed the oil and oil filter, the distributor as well. bought an fuel injector cleaner thing. all in hope of gettin better mileage. but nothing really as changed so far. im low on cash and dont have time to take it to a garage to have it checked out. one of my neighbours suggested that maybe it was the carburetor , my guess is that it could be the o2 sensor. it could be alot of things really. .. so any suggestions would be really appreciated.

when you say full tank, how many liters we talking? my 6th gen civic takes about 10 gallons per fillup though I think it has 11 gallons in capacity. are you putting in that much?

I know one thing, the 95 does not have a carburetor. they stopped making those a while back.

Is the CEL ON?

Does the engine take an excessive amount of time to warm up as indicated by the dash temp gauge?

Is the ignition timing set to spec?

Is there an exhaust leak in the header?

no the cel is not on well its only one before i turn the key. then comes off when i turn the engine on..

during winter the engine temp pretty much stays cold. i dont know abou thte timing set. im guessin stock?" i dont think theres a leak in the heater. :S sorry im nor that informal :S like i said i dont know much.

The thermostat blocks coolant from flowing through the radiator when the engine is cold. This allows the engine to heat up more quickly. The thermostat therefore plays an important role in fuel economy because the engine runs very inefficiently fuel wise when it is cold. Given that your engine does not get hot in the winter, the thermostat may be stuck OPEN or has been removed, thereby leading to poor fuel efficiency. Replace your thermostat. It's quite an inexpensive part.

Just replace the thermostat or do these tests:

The engine temperature should go up to halfway and stay in the same place in all reasonable weather conditions (above zero Fahrenheit or -20 C).

Also you need to check the cam timing as well as spark timing. The spark timing must always be reset after replacing the distributor.

Take the spark plugs out and if one of them has black soot on it, that cylinder may be running real rich due to a faulty fuel injector. Also if the fuel pressure regulator isn't working right the whole engine will run rich and guzzle gas, but usually that should turn the CEL on.

haha your tank doesn't have a big hole in the bottom of it does it =p
I drive the exact same car, but it's a manual and I average about 27-29mpg (not sure how to convert that, maybe about 10.5 liters/100km-9.7 liters/100km?)
