Thumbs down 2010 Civic Brakes

Hey all.

This is my first thread post

So,

I have a 2010 Civic Sedan. I got it off the lot brand new around June 2010. Just yesterday I had to change my front brake pads... My thing is I literally just reached 14,000 miles on it. Of course there's a convenient warranty on the breaks at 12,000 miles Progressively, a loud 'metal on metal' noise was coming from my left front tire that kept getting louder and louder, whether I was breaking or not, curving, going straight, backwards, forwards... you get it.. I took the car into get it checked out, the mechanics told me the brake pads were down to the wire of being dangerous to drive and needed replacement asap. $200 later, I got new brakes...

I want to know if I could get my money back for the pads since they would normally last for at least 30,000+ miles.

A side note - I owned a 1994 Accord 4dr for about 2 years with used brakes and I never had to change them. Because of this, I'm not blaming my driving style for the condition of the brakes on such a low mileage.

Since the brakes have already been changed willingly, they won't give you your money back. There's a reason so many people call them "$tealerships"
They're going to say to you:
"You brought your car in because something was wrong, we fixed it, you paid us."
It isn't a problem with the dealership.

Also I wonder if the brake disks had any grooves in them??? If they aren't perfectly flat, they're just going to eat up the pads again.

You could make a complaint with Honda Regional Office, but I'm not sure if it will make a difference.

I honeslty think if I haddn't changed them right there and then, I probably would have been in trouble if they were to have given out while driving.

I understand the whole 'oh, you came to us and we fixed it thing blah blah blah...' But I do believe 14k miles is a definate low mileage to replace brakes for.

I did call Honda Corp directly, told him what had happened, and they basically said 'we don't see any other complaints and/or other situations with the brakes...and so on' All they did for me was put in a complaint
Not going to get me anywhere .-.

I don't know what else to do honestly. I believe I was jipped on my 'brand new car'..... Brand new brakes? I doubt it...

Brake pads and rotors are always exempt from ANY warranty for wear-out. A good two-footed driver can go through them in very short order.

I understand that.. I've been told by three different places that they needed to be replaced and asap...

And I'm deff not a two footed driver
Those two footed drivers need to stay away from me, they annoy the living crap out of me .-.

Well, it sucks that this happened, but, lesson learned. New brakes should be good for awhile. If they fail in 15K or so, take it to an independent shop instead.

I actually did go to Tire Kingdom, and they told me they haven't seen this in over 5 years (14k wear on brakes) and they suggested towing it home.. They didn't give me a quote, but at the same time they also suggested going to my dealership to see if there was anything 'out the factory' that was failing and maybe have an automatic free replacement... Too bad they weren't right..
