2011 Civic - First oil change
Hi all,
Had a question for you all. Purchased 2011 Civic Dx-G in April 2011. About 11 months passed, 1500miles on the counter and 70% oil life being shows.
Now the question is whether I should schedule the first oil change even though I only clocked 1500 miles in 11 months?
Any help asap is appreciated!!
Thanks.

I would never go that long but I also have never driven only 1,500 in a year. Don't rely on the oil life monitor. Oil is the life blood of your engine and replacing it (and the filter) is the most important/cheapest thing you can do for engine longevity.
Great! Thanks for the replies guys . Go my first oil change done and the filter replaced. Just had a few more questions if you could help. Could you tell me the difference between the oil (first) oil and the one they put in today to replace the old one. Also they told me that I must get the next oil change done every next six months hereafter. I have a few free oil changes left with the dealership but I would like to get it done myself after the free ones expire. Is it advisable if a person has the know-how to go about this? Im sure I can get a new filter and oil from an auto-shop. Also does the transmission fluid need replacing anytime soon?
Hope you guys can help me once again.

Changing oil is easy to do yourself, it's the procedure that every DIY mechanic learns first. The transmission fluid doesn't have to deal with combustion byproducts so you should be OK to follow Honda's schedule despite your low yearly miles.
