Does anyone know if the 1.8L engine in 2014 Civic has a timing belt or chain? Based on the fact that all past Hondas have had belts, I would assume this to be the case. I heard it now has a chain, but I cannot confirm this anywhere. The Gates catalog, which only goes to 2012, only shows a belt part number for the serpentine belt of this engine - no timing belt. What is the truth?

 

They switched to a chain design in 2006 and I don't think they have gone back to a belt since then.
