Default 7th gen RPM question

At idle, my 2001 Honda Civic LX 5-speed idles around 600 RPM and fluctuates as low as 400 RPM// What RPM should my Civic be idling at? And if my Civic is idling too low what could be the cause? Thanks

i believe it's supose to be between 600 and 800 rpm. but it will change if you are running your a.c. you can adjust your idle. the adjuster is on the throttle body. all you need is a flat head screwdriver. you have to do it while the engine is running and only a 1/4 turn at a time.

my 2001 civic ex does the same thing except sometimes it idles at like 100 and then stalls. if you reset the ECU (pull number 6 fuse) and do the idle learn process it should fix it. or just turn up the idle but i've heard of some people gettin check engine lights from that

Cool, thanks.. Mine hasn't went as low as 100 RPM yet.. Tommorow I am going to change my spark plugs, maybe that will remedy the problem.

Mine used to fluxuate like that, from around 400-800, sometimes 1000. I shot some Sea Foam through it and I have been idling at 500 steadily ever since
