86 civic, need help

Default 86 civic, need help

alright the car is a 90, BUT the engine is a 86-87 1.5 carb. the problem is, when it starts, u have to keep ur foot on the gas a lil to keep it running, and the carb "backfires" both fuel filters are good, but there is a fuel smell. new plugs, new wires. cleaned the rotor cap.(had a little acid buildup), any help?? im in orange park,fl if someone close wants to take a look at it for me..

i had an 87 jeep wrangler that did the same thing, we got a new high performance carb installed, and it had no problems starting, except for winter it was really hard to start, and ihad to sit in it 10-15 mins to keep the idle up to allow the engine to warm up, and i had a cracked engine block
