Default 91 hatch key wont come out when cold

Somebody else had to experience this crazy sh*#. When it gets around 30 degrees out side
my ignition key will turn off but not cone out of the ignition. Now if I drive for a bit with
the heat on then get out the key will turn off and come out. The inside must really warm up though. This is an automatic and I know the brake switch is tied into the solenoid the release the shift lever but what the heck is in the switch to not release my key??
All thoughts appreciated
Thx Toby

There is a solenoid at the key switch too. It's not supposed to let you turn the key all the way to fully locked (which lets you remove the key) unless the shifter is in park. Most likely the solenoid mechanism is just sticky when it is cold. It could also be the switch on the shifter not always detecting that it is in park.

This system is related, but mostly separate, from the other interlock that won't let you shift out of park unless the brake is pressed.

Now I need info as to where to find that ign,key solenoid. Where at in the coloum is that
little fella. I'd like to know exactly where to cut before I tear into this project.
Where does it live, what is its size, How hard is it to get at???
I know some one out there knows. C'mon anty up before it warms up and I no longer have the problem
Thx Toby
