Default 92 civic over-heating

so i just noticed that when i turn my heat/ac temperature to blow "cold" my car starts to over heat. But as soon as i turn it to the "hot" the needle drops down and stays at normal/half. The radiator fan turns on and it is filled with antifreeze. any ideas what it might be. wanna fix it before the heat comes. or imma die

Sounds like a stuck t-stat. Cheap/easy to replace.

I agree, after making sure the coolant is not low and the fan works, the next step is to just replace the thermostat. If the problem persists, investigate further.

Does the blower stop running when the blower switch is turned off? If so,:

Test #1: Check whether there is battery voltage at fuse 13 when the key is turned OFF.

Test #2: If Test #1 shows no power at fuse 13 with the key OFF, then test the heater motor relay (see diagrams below).

The 3 relays in a row in the box are identical, so you can pull out the rear defogger relay and try it to replace the heater relay to see if that resolves the problem. If it does, you need a new relay.

iight. ill try that when it gets little warmer. cuz now the fan does it sometimes. and what i noticed was if i smack/punch the heater control deck thing, it will shut off the heater/heater lights. some im guessing it must be a wire thats in the back that is loose or something since i can hit it and it will shut it off/on. kinda ghetto.
