92 civic si 1.6 stock will not start. help?
ok heres the deal. was playing around trying to figure out why heater wasnt working and for what reason i do not know i decided to pull one of the plug wires off of a plug while the car was running. The car stuttered and died. Car will not start now. No fire or anything. Take coil and wut not out of dizzy have it tested. Both parts fail. Replace whole Dizzy with new including coil cap rotor-everything in dizzy. Car now backfires(not loud-just small pops) but still will not start. Checked wires - good. Checked for spark on plugs against ground - all spark very nicely and are fairly new neways. check to see if fuel is pumping by pulling hose from fuel rail - fuel is pumping. checked and rechecked firing order and it is 100% no doubt correct. battery has plenty of power. what could it be? I cant even get it to start for a minute. Im not sure how the injectors work but i tested for positive voltage in both wires that go to the injector and when the key is in the on position both wires have power to them and when cranking one of each set of wires grounds for just a split second. Is this how it should be? Thank you in advance for any replies. hopefully i can solve my problem here..
i have tried moving the dizzy into all different positions and to no avail. had someone crank it while i slowly moved it in fact and nothing. besides that most hondas will at least START no matter how far off your timing is unless your a full tooth off with your timing belt.
and if your wondering, the timing belt is only a few months old. i changed it when i did the water pump. and since that job until now it ran like a champ. so unless it somehow jumped a tooth because i removed a plug wire from the plug while it was running...is that possible?
Does the Check Engine Light stay ON when the ignition key is turn to ON without cranking the engine?
When you turn the ignition key to ON but don't start the engine, do you hear the low hum of the fuel pump?
It might be worthwhile to check the fuel pressure:

Backfiring means the sparks are way out of time. You may have the wires in the right order (1-3-4-2 going around the distributor clockwise) but maybe the #1 wire is in the wrong place.
Or you have the wrong distributor for your car. If you still have the old one put it back on and swap the coil and igniter with the new ones.

ok old distributer with new stuff in it doesnt work either. any other ideas? could it be any kind of sensor causing this? anything electrical that would cause the car not to start at all? wow this is frustrating NEVER had so much of a problem with a honda...
