Default 93 Civic will not start

A few months back my Civic intermittently having issues starting but would always start. The intermittent issue is now a hard failure, luckily I have a manual so I can always roll to start/turn over. What is in the starting circuit? The starter does not even attempt to turn over, I assume there is a switch/switches in the circuit. Where do I start, is there a clutch safety switch or an ignition switch etc...? Thanks for advice in advance.

Has anybody had the same problem in the past and if yes what did you do to fix it?

Usually this is the starter itself. If you hear a loud click from the starter but it doesn't turn (and the rest of the car still has power from the battery), you have the typical worn out contact points in the solenoid.

Check the wires to the starter. I had a female terminal break but the rubber terminal shield was still intact. While you're there, see if you get 12 volts. A wiring diagram would help you determining which wire is which.

All appreciate all of the answers, the Honda is my son's car and he will along with the car will be available this evening. The plan is to take the starter out (check all connections) and take to Advanced Auto to check it out. If all goes as planned he will be driving car without having to run and push and put in gear to start. Thanks again for the answers - David

Pulled the starter out early this morning and took it to the parts store. It checked bad, bought another one and installed before lunch. Car starts like a champ. Thanks all
