I have a 94 Civic, D16Z6. I have a low idle (around 200). My gas mileage has tanked, and I have bog or hesitation to accelerate under 2500rpms in any gear. It's really hard to describe but its like the engine is gasping for air.

I'm guessing that all the problems are linked somehow. I have changed my IACV and my PCV valve (that was stuck), and none of the problems have seem to have gotten better. As a college student I cant throw money at it to see whats wrong with it. I've done some reading and my fast idle valve? could be one of the problems with it. I just havent gotten around to it. The only mod on the car is a cold air intake.

Any help/suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Check the spark timing. If it's way off, timing belt may have skipped.

 

Also make sure your air filter isn't clogged up or wet (since you have a CAI)

 

Ill check the timing this weekend. Just cleaned the air filter not that long ago so that's ruled out. Thanks for the replies.

When were the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor last replaced?
