Default 95 Civic Dx 2dr coupe help

Hey everyone,

I just recently purchased my first car, a 1995 Honda Civic Dx Coupe 2 door. It runs great with one problem. Whenever I try to start the car, it wont start until the Check Engine Light goes out. I can distinctly hear something engage for about a second before the light goes out, and I have no idea what it is. It usually takes longer to engage when it is cold, rainy, or hasn't been started for a while.

I am young with no experience in cars and have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you are hearing is the fuel pump priming. For the 92-95 years, it is best to wait until the check engine light goes out before trying to start the car as it allows the fuel pressure to build. I know if I try to start mine (94 dx) before the light goes out, it is harder to start.

And as the poster stated above, check the main relay for cold solders. Mine had them and it helped when I reflowed the solder.

I pulled out and checked the relay, I didn't see any bad connections that needed soldering. I had my friend look at it too and he didnt see anything either. Any other suggestions? Could it be the connection? Im thinking i might just order a new relay if they're still sold. I'm gonna upload a picture of the circuit board to see if you guys see anything I didn't

Solder it anyway-- every single connection. The cracks can be real small.

If it's not the main relay, the other thing that causes the CEL to be delayed going out when you turn the key on but don't crank, is the ECU itself. Used ones are not very expensive.
