96 civic dx with 99 civic ex motor...FTP help

Hey all, I am a noob when it comes to this...I have a 96 civic which I swapped out a 99 d16y8 into it. I used the dx harness and added my vtec wires to it, with a p2p c33 ecu from that came with the engine and tranny I got from a wrecked civic...Everything is running great but keep getting cel light for ptank sensor..I have tried the potentiometer trick with to no avail...what are my other options?

Can I do a obd2 to obd1 conversion with a p28 ecu? without having to wire up vtec again? any help would be great...thanks all...

I suppose it's possible to get a P28 ECU and an OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness for the ECU. That'll fix the CEL. (OBD1 doesn't look for the fuel tank pressure sensor.) Im not too familiar with this specific issue though.

O.k...thank you...would I have to rewire my vtec or would it be fine wired into the harness I have now?

any help would be great...thank you....

I would bet it would be fine. All the conversion harness does is it has female plugs on one end that you plug your ECU connections into, and then it switches the wires around into 3 male plugs that go to your ECU. As long as you wired them properly, it'll work fine.
