Have a 96 HX - are any of the AEM short ram air intakes compatible with this model?

I've installed intakes on previous cars, piece of cake, BUT the intake tube on my HX has an actual connector/plug/harness hooked up to it - don't think? aftermarket systems would accomodate for this.

If nobody know the answer to this for sure, maybe anyone who has a 96-00 Civic could help with this:

Your intake tube - does it come off on TOP or the LEFT side (my HX comes off the left side) of that silver box (I'm guessing thats where the throttle body and all that good stuff is located) I think? the EXs come off on the top, maybe the DXs come off on the left side like the HX?

 

no, you have it backwards

 

EX/HX intakes are interchangible for those years.

 

Its the DX like mine that comes off the top. Your intake should mount to the side I am guessing, and run down the left side of the engine when facing it.

There should be ton's of compatable systems for your set-up, even on ebay, but AEM would be higher quality by far. I am not sure what kind of plug you are referring to though.

D16Punk (or anyone else who knows) what did you do with that harness that plugs into the intake tube?

Anybody know what it is for? Maybe a sensor in there for the lean burn VTEC? In which case, I don't want to possibly mess up my gas mileage by unplugging it since thats why I bought the HX in the first place...

 

Any sensor that plugs into your intake now should have its place in the new one. I bought my SRI off of Ebay and it still had a whole.

Here's a whole bunch of ones that'll fit your car (both Ebay quality and much better).

 

Thanks yall - appreciate it. Good to know the EX/HX are compatible. Still interested in knowing what that sensor is though, never seen a sensor plug into an intake tube like that before.
